Thursday 24th November and Huddersfield Parish Church hosted the funeral of former footballer Bobby Campbell. Bobby’s career concluded in the late 1980’s after which he became steward of Lindley Working Men’s Club for 25 years.
St. Stephen’s Church, Lindley was never able to accommodate the numbers expected to pay their respects, so St. Peter’s was asked to host the funeral. Indeed there was only standing room, with the sound being relayed outside into St. Peter’s gardens.
