A Christmas Thank you to all our Supporters

Dear friends,

Re: Your Giving  –  A Thank you from the Vicar on behalf of the PCC

I am writing to thank you on behalf of the PCC of St Peter’s Parish Church Huddersfield for all you give to support your church community. Our members give their time, their skills and their resources to help us flourish together in Christ and we are truly grateful.  We receive regular donations by Standing Order, through our envelope giving scheme and through online donations. We also continue to receive anonymous donations placed in the pedestal as people leave or arrive in church.  Just as Jesus spoke of the value of the widow’s mite, the PCC appreciate the generosity which every donation, large or small, represents.

As we move towards Christmas I can also reassure you that our continued vigilance with mask wearing, distancing and ventilation in the building means that we are able to safely continue with services.  All those leading services are regularly having Lateral Flow Tests and we recommend congregation members to do likewise if they can before coming to church.

The pandemic continues to highlight the costs which continue, month in month out for the church.  Of course, our giving funds not just the building but our ministry within it and beyond it.  The staff team have continued to work hard throughout 2021, with a change to the office team when Verity returned to full time teaching and Mitch was appointed as our new administrator.  Often their work has been above and beyond the call of duty, ensuring music and worship and the day to day running of our community.

I am sure you share in my gratitude for the service and commitment of both staff and volunteers.  All our work is enabled by your giving, and Standing Order is the most supportive way of giving, enabling us to better manage cash flow and keep all our commitments. If you are able to move over to a Standing Order the details you need are available via the office and Mitch will be happy to offer you support to complete this simple process.

It has been wonderful to return to just some of our fellowship activities this year. Though events have not been as frequent as we would have liked, our coffee mornings, quiz night and Christmas Fair have been good for us all, bringing community back together and offering the wider welcome which is so vital to our ministry once again. We have also seen a burgeoning of musical events in the building and I hope 2022 will see people from within and beyond the church engage more with these opportunities.

Whatever challenges this year has brought we are hugely grateful for your continued financial support in whatever form it takes.  We give in gratitude for all we have received in Christ, confident that our gift is used to further God’s mission in our community.

With every blessing for a peaceful Advent and a joyful Christmas.

Sincerely

Revd Canon Rachel Firth, PCC Chair, St Peter’s Parish Church Huddersfield
