Joining in Interfaith Week at HPC

This year’s National Interfaith week runs from Remembrance Sunday on November 13th to November 20th. Here at HPC we are joining in in several ways, and we hope you will want to join in with us. This annual week of events is about highlighting the contribution of faith groups to society; spotlighting interfaith cooperation and understanding; and encouraging dialogue between those of religious and non-religious beliefs. It’s a fantastic platform to share, learn and build relationships with neighbours, colleagues and service users of different backgrounds, promote diversity and integration goals and to come together in service for the common good. https://www.interfaithweek.org/

Events at HPC

Interfaith Week Walk – On Tuesday November 15th we are participating in an Interfaith Walk.  Starting here at HPC at 10am the walk will visit 4 faith sites in the town (HPC, the Hindu Temple, a Mosque and the Sikh Gurdwara at Springwood). The event will last until mid-afternoon with approx. 20 minutes spent at each site. To book a place on the faith trail please email or call Andy Helliwell in Kirklees Community Cohesion andy.helliwell@kirklees.gov.uk (07528 252495)

Roses for Peace – Interfaith Week Event  On Wednesday November 16th as part of a Kirklees wide Interfaith event we have been asked to participate in “Roses for Peace”. This is a simple multi-faith activity which involves the preparation of roses (adding tags to each stem) with quotes about peace from different faith communities, and then the distribution of the roses by representatives of different faith groups.  We are hosting the preparation session at HPC on Wednesday November 16th 9.30am-12.30pm and joining in with the distribution of the roses in the afternoon in St George’s Square from 2pm.

Could you help with the making in the morning, or the sharing in the afternoon?  This will be a great opportunity to meet with other faith and community groups, to share time together and participate in the outward looking ministry of HPC in Huddersfield. To register your interest in either event please contact the Parish Office on 01484 427964.

Community Quilt – Faith & Belief Community craft groups across Kirklees including our own Crafters & Grafters group have been busy making quilting squares that express something for them about home. What does home mean to you? The quilt will be on display at HPC between Thursday November 17th and Sunday November 20th. On Thursday between 10.30am and 12pm quilt makers will be there to talk about the process of making and the ideas of home that the quilt represents. All are welcome.
