To mark the outbreak of peace in Europe seventy years ago there will be a short service at Huddersfield Parish Church at which the Bishop of Huddersfield will preach a short homily.

Then we will be gathering in St. Peter’s gardens where the Mayor of Kirklees, Coun. Ken Smith will address the gathering.

At 11.00am the bells of St.Peter’s church will peal out – reflecting the scenes in 1945 and at the same time as many other towers throughout the land.
