A calm Saturday lunch-time in St.Peter’s and an intimate set of people gather to listen to a long standing friend deliver a ‘Recital of German Leider and English Song’.
Verity Quarmby was Choir Director at Huddersfield Parish Church during and after her university years. Now a teacher, as well as mother to three young boys, she is embarking on this new path, accompanied by Richard, Verity’s husband, at the piano.
The programme:
Robert Schumann: Frauenliebe und Leben Op.42
Gustav Holst: The Heart Worships
Felix Mendelssohn: Two Arias from Elijah: O Rest in the Lord and Woe Unto Them
Edward Elgar: Sea Pictures Op.37: In Heaven, Sabbath Morning and Where Coral Lie
Bridgette, Verity’s music teacher, spoke of the wonderful sounds of the recital and the acoustic of St. Peter’s .
Verity on completion of the programme was relieved but happy with her performance and the audience enjoyed the music of this calm Saturday lunch-time in St.Peter’s.
