Another form of Lent observance you might want to try is though ‘doing’. Below are a number of activities you might consider through the Lenten Season. Some people are more at ease being practical. The materials will be sourced and instruction given, so is this form for you? Crafters and Grafters have given some thought to these projects.
1 Knitting a Easter egg to sell for Easter (smaller project)
2 Planting a herb pot to sell for Easter or at the May fair
3 Making a driftwood cross to sell for Easter
4. Making a prayer shawl by either knitting of crocheting. (larger project)
5. Multicoloured Prayers by Mary Fleeson
Spend an hour colouring one of these Celtic style outline prayer sheets with paint or felt tips. Let your mind and heart wander as your hands engage with creativity. A release for prayer in exploring the words, thoughts & shapes. A good activity to do on your own or in meditative silence in a small group.
The Resources – prayer cards, books ,CDs , DVDs, patterns and material and bible study note are available from the parish office, at Sunday Service or can be purchased off of the internet.
