Over 80 individuals from various churches and Christian Asian Communities of Kirklees and beyond gathered at Huddersfield Parish Church to pray for peace after the recent terrorist bombing at All Saints Church in Peshawar, Pakistan.
Bishop Tony lead and introduced the other speakers; Canon Yaqub Masih and Bishop Cecil, a former assistant Bishop in Peshawar. Both referred to the week in which a church, a bus and a local market had been bombed. Many Christians and Muslims in the city had lost their lives and still more had been seriously injured.
Bishop Cecil spoke that in Christian terms we were called to love – even in and through such difficult times.
Prayers were said for the deceased, the injured and those who planned such atrocities. The whole congregation came forward solemnly to light candle as a focus of their prayers.
A collection was taken to aid the relief effort.
