The York-based company, Trace-in-Metal tested a new form of detection for, metal theft when the vestry roofs of St. Peter’s were replaced last winter. Engineers used guns to shoot coded micro-dots into the roof, as well as post coding and placement of further coded micro-dots on the surface of the protected area. The system allows detection when stolen, through the scrap yard dealers and even during the smelting process. Police will be given access to data through a detailed report via the information contained and accessed through the micro-dots.
