Memorial Tags and an Evening of Remembrance.

Since the beginning of December, small red tags have been written upon at Huddersfield Parish Church. Each tag with someone’s name upon it has been place onto one of two simply lit Christmas Trees.

“The trees at the front of St. Peter’s are laden with tags and names”, commented the Rev’d Canon Simon Moor, “all the way to Christmas, and including at Midnight Mass, a steady stream of people have been leaving names of loved ones and messages of love and hope.”

This Sunday evening – 6th January 2013 – beginning at 6.30pm there is a service of remembrance when those who have asked by their loved ones to be prayed for, will be remembered by name. An opportunity to light a candle will be offered during the service.

“It will be twelfth night,” said Canon Simon, “as the trees for Christmas are taken down, we hold this memorial using the prayers and thoughts left throughout the Advent and Christmas seasons.”

All are welcome – names may be added up to the service.
