At 3pm on Sunday 13th a Memorial Service will be held at Huddersfield Parish Church to remember the six young men who died in March while serving in Afghanistan.
Sergeant Nigel Coupe, aged 33 from 1st Battalion, The Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment; and Corporal Jake Hartley, 20; Private Anthony Frampton, 20; Private Christopher Kershaw, 19; Private Daniel Wade, 20; and Private Daniel Wilford, 21; from 3rd Battalion, The Yorkshire Regiment will be honoured by family, friends and civil dignitaries.
The general public are invited to pay their respects at St Peter’s church after the funerals last week of the three soldiers from the Huddersfield area.
The Rev’d Canon Simon Moor said, “This is an opportunity for ordinary people who were unable to attend the funerals to pay their respects in a public arena.”
The Major of Huddersfield, Councillor Eric Firth will be in attendance and the Bishop of Wakefield the Right Rev’d Stephen Platten will give the address.
