The names of the six soldiers who died on Tuesday in Afghanistan were remembered at St Peter’s today.
The main Sunday Eucharist began with a solemn procession and the intention to remember them, their families and friends as we worshipped in word and sacrament.
The address by the Rev’d Dr. Anna Wallis spoke of the positive actions of the Christian life and the call to do something of a mark of faith (and remembrance).
From the laying of flowers in the market square to the signing of the Book of Condolence or lighting a candle, the weight of community and individuals was recalled.
Intercessions were used as a similar focus – may they rest in peace and rise in glory.
