Welcome for the New Archdeacon of Halifax.
On Sunday 22nd January at 4pm, Huddersfield Parish Church hosts the welcome of the Archdeaconry of Halifax, the Venerable Anne Dawtry into the area she will serve.
The welcome will be led by the Right Rev’d Tony Robinson, Bishop of Pontefract.
The gathering will include guests from the geographic area of Calderdale and Kirklees – including members of churches, interfaith groups and civic leaders.
The Deputy Mayor of Calderdale, Cllr Peter Wardhaugh and the Deputy Mayor of Kirklees, Cllr Christine Iredale will both be in attendance to offer their good wishes for Anne in her new role.
Anne Dawtry succeeds the Venerable Robert Freeman who is now the suffragan Bishop of Penrith in the Diocese of Carlisle.
Anne says: “I am thoroughly enjoying meeting people across the vibrant and diverse communities which go to make up The Archdeaconry of Halifax. I look forward to working in depth with both churches and local communities over the coming months.”
In her spare time Anne likes to garden and is a keen photographer of anything architectural. She also enjoys making jams, chutneys and relishes and at her heart is meeting people.
The Bishop of Wakefield, the Rt. Revd. Stephen Platten said, ‘I am delighted that we have such a gifted and experienced priest joining the Senior Staff and I am sure that she will have much to contribute to the life of the Diocese.’
